Food Security Project
St. Joseph
Community Health has been participating in a Food Security Project in the SE
Heights of Albuquerque. This project
was undertaken to determine food resources available in this community. The
study resulted in an identification of gaps in community knowledge of
availability of food resources and how to access these resources, as well as
gaps in availability and distribution of food (some distributors ran out of
food, while others could not distribute all of their food).
St. Joseph
Community Health, along with community partners, has undertaken the development
of a resource booklet for food pantries to assist them in understanding what
each other has to offer, and in order to better serve the people who seek food
assistance. Additionally, it is the
hope that the pantries will continue to work together to create a system that
will better match supply of food with demand based on the area of the
community. (Click
