Senior Well-Being
Clinics
The St. Joseph Community
Health Senior Well-Being clinics serve seniors in a variety of settings,
including low-income housing, city meal sites, and Catholic Parishes throughout
the Albuquerque area. The program provides over 2300 client contacts and more
than 1700 chair massages annually to underserved seniors. There is no cost to
participants.
St. Joseph Community Health
program staff and volunteers visit each site once monthly to deliver the
well-being clinics. Clients benefit from one-on-one consultation with a nurse
and can discuss a number of medical and non-medical issues such as health
concerns, interpreting test results, navigating the medical system, advocacy
needs and community resources. Seniors also participate in basic health
screenings for blood pressure and diabetes and receive educational materials
about healthy lifestyles, safety and chronic medical conditions that can assist
them to better manage their own health.
Dedicated volunteers include
both non-medical and medical professionals who contribute over 800 hours of
service annually and act as ambassadors for the organization.
