Trumbull Village Housing Project
Partnership with the Greater Albuquerque Housing Partnership
As a result of its work and
connection in the SE Heights of Albuquerque, St. Joseph Community Health was
able to connect the Greater Albuquerque Housing Partnership, a nonprofit
housing partnership, with its parent company Catholic Health Initiatives to
obtain a loan through CHI’s Direct Community Investment Program. CHI provided $900,000 in financing to
support the GAHP’s redevelopment efforts in the SE Heights Trumbull
neighborhood. 14 affordable homes are
being built in Trumbull Village, addressing one of the social determinants of
health – Housing. GAHP will work with
community organizations to prepare local community residents to become
first-time home buyers. This
development has set the stage for other affordable housing initiatives. The City of Albuquerque has purchased lots
for 60 additional new homes in Trumbull Village, and other groups are talking
about building town homes for older adults.
