Vecinos y Vacunas
This
project has been a community partnership with six clinics, neighborhood
representatives, and NM Department of Health, focused on increasing rates of
childhood immunizations, specifically in the SE Heights of Albuquerque. St.
Joseph Community Health received a three-year grant for its parent company,
Catholic Health Initiatives, which ended in 2007.
As a
result of bringing together stakeholders, including community members, childhood
immunization rates moved from a low of 39% in one SE Heights clinic to a high
of 94% in another – with all six nearing or surpassing the 90% goal. SJCH
continues to promote sustainability of these immunization practice
improvements.
