Breast Cancer Resource Center

 

The Breast Cancer Resource Center is an initiative of St. Joseph Community Health, a not-for-profit organization that offers programs and services that improve health.  The Resource Center services are available to breast cancer patients, survivors and their families at no cost.

Our Mission Statement:

To serve all New Mexico women, their loved ones and the community by connecting each to resources and information about breast cancer, to be a life-affirming partner through the cancer experience, and to participate in the empowerment of women as active and informed consumers.

 

Connecting you to Community Resources:

We connect breast cancer patients, survivors and their families to community resources through information and referral.  Staff will connect you to services based on individual needs. 

Services include:

·         Cancer screening and treatment services

·         Legal assistance

·         Transportation

·         Housing

·         Counseling and/or emotional support

·         Financial assistance

 

Providing you with Direct Services:

We provide direct services for breast cancer clients addressing both practical and emotional needs.  Services include:

·         Care Navigation for clients requiring additional assistance with accessing resources.  A navigator can assist with the following needs:

o        Financial and economic support

o        Language and cultural

o        Communications

o        Health care system questions

o        Addressing fear and anxiety

Trained volunteers provide emotional and practical support

 

Reaching you through Outreach Activities:

We reach the community by promoting our services in a variety of settings.  Our commitment is to remain accessible to the communities we serve through:

·         Wellness programs such as Yoga and other techniques to reduce stress, arts & crafts workshops, health education classes, art exhibits and other life-affirming activities

·         Raising awareness and promoting the importance of early detection and screening of health fairs, presentations, workshops at community and senior centers, and other locations.

·         Collaboration with medical providers and community agencies to develop working partnerships that improve sharing of resources.
